Close season blues......

Well as I write this the river anglers amongst us have 24 days to wait until they can wet a line in running water. For me I started the close season by fishing a few local commercials, first after a pre-spawned Perch but then moving onto Tench. God knows how many Carp later and I cannot wait to get back on the rivers! I really need to choose a specific Tench venue for next spring as trying to extract good Tench from most commercials means wading through too many scaley backs!
Fresh bait has been purchased and a few bankside river walks are showing that the Barbel seem to be in their usual places on the upper Avon as well as lot's of nice Chub to boot, strange how they always seem to disappear come June 16th........

I have been invited to fish a private lake nr Hinckley on June 11th and will be taking my son Josh (age 8) and that will be my final fling on the stillwaters before the first weekend of the river season get's under way.
